A baffling list of rather unconventional baby names was posted online, and one man was left horrified. Someone shared the image on the internet, sparking one person to comment that one name in particular resembled something you’d definitely not want to catch.

Many new parents strive for uniqueness when naming their offspring, eager for their child to be distinctive and not just another face in the crowd with a common name.

This quest for originality has led parents to choose increasingly outlandish names, which can sometimes backfire, leaving others bewildered, as seen on Reddit.

The Reddit post, which appeared in a baby name discussion thread, was titled “What the actual? ” and displayed a list of baby names: “Newton has eight kids – Chosen, Camidas, Cashmere, Ceasar, Jaden, Sovereign-Dior, Shakira and a baby girl born in 2024.”

The assortment of names left people perplexed, with certain names causing more controversy than others. One person commented: “Jaden is thrilled that they were the lucky one,” implying that Jaden had ‘dodged a bullet’ compared to the other names.

One individual humorously remarked: “Camidas sounds like an STD”. Another confessed they “actually read it as chlamydia the first time”. Echoing this sentiment, someone else said: “Hahaha, same here. Read it as that, then thought, well, if not chlamydia, it still sounds like a nasty STD.”

A Reddit user quipped: “‘Born in 2024’ is the best baby name yet. As an IT guy, I can appreciate how much that would get f**ked up in systems”. The person who posted the story replied: “I would not be surprised if that was her name”.

“Is Chosen the favourite or the least favourite? It’s hard to tell,” someone wrote, while another pointed out that this name would give the child “middle child syndrome no matter what their position”.

The saga of unfortunate baby names doesn’t end there. Recently, a mum combined Katrina and Larissa – which she found “too common” or “too old” – to create ‘Latrina’ for her daughter. However, as social media users were quick to highlight, Latrina means ‘toilet’ in some European languages. .

In the Reddit thread’s comments where the mum shared her story, one person remarked: “You literally named your daughter after a toilet. Well done.”

Another added humorously: “Well, unfortunately, someone just gave her the idea of Lavatory for her next daughter. LavvaToreie, Lahvahtoree, there are options depending on pronunciation”.
