Grantchester star Robson Green has offered a heartwarming glimpse into his frequent trips to the Philippines with partner Zoila as he continues to embrace her native culture.

The actor, who is currently fronting the third series of BBC’s Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes, shared his experiences of exploring the Southeast Asian nation with his partner of nine years.

In a recent interview, Green revealed how their holidays perfectly align with his passions for music, history and family connections.

The couple, who met in 2016, regularly visit the island of Palawan, where they immerse themselves in local traditions and historical sites.

“Recently we went to the south to see where the Spanish settled in the 16th century and visited the old camps they set up when they pillaged the area,” Green told The Times.

The actor particularly appreciates the Filipino emphasis on family gatherings during weekends.

“There might be a music festival or a dance and they’ll roast a pig,” he shared, describing the local celebrations.

His love for fishing has also found a home in the Philippines. “The fishermen out there are terrific, so I’ll go out with the locals and watch the sunset as I’m casting a line,” he explained.

These cultural experiences have become a significant part of the couple’s shared life together.

Despite his contentment in the relationship, Green has firmly ruled out the prospect of marriage.

“No, I’ve done enough of that. We’re very happy together,” he told the same publication in 2023.

The actor’s previous marriages include his first union with occupational therapist Alison Ogilvie in 1991, which ended after eight years amid reports of infidelity.

He later married former Page 3 model Vanya Seager in 2001, with whom he had a son, Taylor.

Speaking candidly about his past relationships in 2016, Green admitted on Robson and Jim’s Icelandic Fishing Adventure that fame had caused him to “lose touch with what matters in life”, describing his relationships as “a car crash”.

The beginning of Green’s relationship with Zoila made headlines when they met at a gym in 2016.

Their connection prompted Zoila, then a Sunday school teacher, to leave her husband, Reverend Geoffrey Short.

Speaking to The Mirror about the sudden change in his life, Geoffrey Short revealed: “We had a great life together. People thought she was the ideal vicar’s wife, and she was.”

“Then I got home from work one day and all of a sudden everything changed. She announced she was leaving to live with Robson Green. She said they got talking in the gym and she fell in love. She left immediately. This all came as a huge shock to me,” he added.
