Cheryl Brownlee is set to take on a mammoth-task April, with her first ever marathon set to take place in London.

The East Antrim MLA is partaking in the UK’s biggest running event to raise funds for local charity, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

“I am excited and honoured to take part in the London Marathon this year,” said the DUP politician.

“This is my first marathon, and I’m training hard to complete the 26.2 miles, but what truly motivates me is raising vital funds for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

“The work of this service is invaluable, providing rapid pre hospital critical care when time is of the essence, and I want to do everything I can to support them.”

Head of Fundraising at Air Ambulance NI, Kerry Anderson said: “Our service is needed on average twice every day by individuals involved in an unexpected trauma or medical emergency such as a serious road traffic collision, workplace or sporting incident or farm accident to name a few.

“Fundraising of £6,850 is needed each day to sustain the service so we are very grateful to Cheryl for taking on this challenge. We encourage everyone to donate what they can – you will help save lives!”

Air Ambulance NI operates in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), responding to life-threatening emergencies across the region.

The charity’s advanced life-saving team provides essential treatment at the scene as well as transfer to the most appropriate hospital, often making the difference between life and death.

With her training well underway, Cheryl is encouraging her constituents and the wider community to support her fundraising efforts by donating to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland. “Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a significant difference in helping save lives,” she added.

The London Marathon, one of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world, will take place on April 27, 2025.
