A security camera has captured the moment an installation engineer in Northern Ireland was knocked over by the trampoline that he was preparing to take inside during a storm.
After being startled awake by Storm Darragh, Jonathan O’Neill put on a beanie hat and gloves and decided to brave the outside to weatherproof the garden of his Cookstown home.
Storm Darragh hit NI in early December, causing widespread power outages and travel disruption. The storm saw sustained gusts of between 60-70mph over a weekend.
The clip shows the 44-year-old readjusting his bins against the wall, before making his way towards the area where he’d stored the trampoline.
But, at that moment, a hefty gust of wind lifted the trampoline and catapulted it straight towards him.
After a tumble to the ground, Jonathan is shown stretched out across the patio in an apparent daze.
“I wasn’t hurt, I was just lying there embarrassed wondering had anyone seen it,” he said.
Jonathan eventually peels himself from the floor, before smiling towards his Outdoor Camera Battery after realising it had caught all of the action.
He added: “My wife saw the footage and was in stitches laughing, then it got shared around a bit on WhatsApp where everyone seems to have had a good laugh.”
After Storm Darragh, NI was battered by gusts of over 90mph, when Storm Eowyn hit.
Jonathan said he looking forward to the next time they can enjoy the trampoline in milder weather. “The net poles were broken so I have to buy new ones at some stage.”
