Taylor Swift found an unlikely ally on social media after the popstar was viciously booed by Philadelphia Eagles fans at the Super Bowl on Sunday — Paige Spiranac.
The uber-popular golf influencer took to social media on Monday, posting that she didn’t get the hate directed towards Swift at the big game in New Orleans.
Spiranac noted that Swift’s relationship with Kansas City star tight end Travis Kelce has been tremendous for the league, especially in terms of income she has indirectly brought in.
“It was reported that the NFL’s brand value has increased almost $1 billion since Taylor Swift started dating Kelce. The NFL is using her popularity to boost their brand. So booing Taylor Swift is lame,” Spiranac wrote while reposting a clip showing Swift getting jeered by Eagles fans.
“She was just showing up to support her significant other. The amount of times she’s shown at a game or posted on social media is out of her control.”
This got fans on social media fired up.
One user on X was quick to reply that football fans simply do not care how much economic impact Swift has had on the league.
“No NFL fan gives a damn how much money she helps them generate,” they wrote.
Spiranac replied, saying they missed the point.
“People complain because she’s shown all the time. She’s shown because it helps the NFL brand,” she wrote. “It’s not her asking for the exposure. But also the more money the NFL brings in, the better the product will be for the fans. None of it makes sense.”
While the blonde bombshell continued to defend her take on Swift, Spiranac eventually posted a “peace offering” towards Eagles fans – a pic of herself wearing a tight, white Eagles tanktop.
“I’ve had some smoking hot takes in my day but who knew country music and Taylor Swift would be my hottest yet lol Eagles fans here is my peace offering,” she wrote.
Spiranac, who boasts more than five million followers across her social media accounts, was in New Orleans for Super Bowl week representing SportsGrid. The site recently launched Las Paigeas — a clever play on Spiranac’s name and Las Vegas — in the build towards the Super Bowl, which is a destination for fantasy gambling.
She has shared clips of herself this week at the Caesars Superdome for media day, including her attempts to try to get to the front of the crowds to question players.
When making her selection for the big game, Spiranac also shouted out Swift as one of the reasons for backing the Chiefs.
“I’m also a Taylor Swift fan, so I think that’s going to be why I’m going to back the Chiefs. It’d be cool to see history made,” she said.
