A protester carrying Palestinian and Sudanese flags disrupted Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday night.

The demonstrator displayed a flag bearing the words ‘Gaza’ and ‘Sudan’, which incorporated both nations’ flags.

The incident, which occurred during the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, was not broadcast on television.

The 37-year-old rapper continued his performance undisturbed as the dramatic scenes unfolded below the stage.

The protester managed to breach security and jump onto a car that was being used as part of the performance.

The demonstrator then sprinted across the stadium whilst holding the flag aloft.

It remains unclear how the individual managed to bypass the security measures in place to access the field.

The incident occurred as Lamar, fresh from multiple Grammy wins, was delivering his performance.

Three security guards in suits chased down and tackled the protester during the performance.

Video footage shows the demonstrator refused to stand, resulting in guards dragging the individual away on their knees.

Lamar appeared unbothered by the disruption, maintaining his performance as the scene unfolded beneath him.

The security response was swift but went unseen by television audiences, as broadcasters did not show the incident during the live transmission.

Lamar made history as the first solo hip-hop artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

Prior to the performance, Lamar spoke about his intentions at an Apple Music press conference, saying: “Storytelling. I think I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music.”

The rapper aimed to bring Los Angeles energy to New Orleans, stating: “This is me. This is Kendrick Lamar, 37 years old, and I still feel like I’m elevating, I’m still on a journey.”
