I’ve floor tested, if you will, many vacuums down the years but plugging in the Tineco Floor One S5 Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner was the first time I’ve used a cordless vac that vacuums and mops at the same time. A pretty impressive feat, backed up by tech that senses and adjusts for both wet and dry dirt on hard floors.
The Tineco looks very much like any other cordless vac bar a large water tank. With this filled up it is pretty heavy, although I found it still to be highly manoeuvrable despite its heft, with the rollers propelling it forward easing the load.
The iLoop Smart Sensor Technology detects the type of mess and automatically adjusts suction power, water flow, and brush roller speed, making it suitable for tackling both dry debris and wet spills. It worked really well, but the one caveat to all this is that it can’t be used on carpet and rugs.
On the large round screen below the handle is a user-friendly interface featuring an LED display that provides real-time feedback, including battery status, cleaning mode, and dirt detection. The vacuum’s self-cleaning function is very well done, keeping the brush roll and tube clean after every use.
Powerful suction ensures that dry debris is picked up effectively, while the wet cleaning system leaves hard floors streak-free. It excels at handling spills, dirt, and even sticky messes. Although for the most stubborn of rubble you’ll need to engage Max mode which super-charges the suction.
Under normal usage I found that the battery – charged using a dock – help up pretty well when compared with competitors. As it’s doing two things at once it doesn’t match up with the best, but that would be asking a lot. You have two tanks – for clean and dirty water – and both are easy to remove, empty and fill.

Damian: Used it four times. It has performed pretty well. Plenty dirt comes up from the floor as judged by the dirty water tank. I don’t think it removes 100% of dirt but it’s a trade off between speed , convenience, weight (it’s light enough), manoeuvrability etc. cleans up to skirting board nicely. Battery run time is impressive. Easily able to do whole area (7 rooms) in one go.
