The hit police drama Line Of Duty is set to return for a seventh series according to one of its cast members. Christina Chong, who portrayed DI Nicky Rogerson in the second and sixth series of the BBC thriller, hinted at the show’s comeback while attending the Hollywood Saturn Awards last week. She revealed that the cast has been approached regarding their availability later this year.
The Mirror reports how the 41 year old actress was asked about a new series and she replied: “So I have been asked about a season, is it seven? Yeah. Potentially, Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven.”
Last year, Adrian Dunbar, famed for his role as Supt Ted Hastings, mentioned that series creator Jed Mercurio was penning a new script. “He is writing… we haven’t got a script on the desk yet,” he commented.

The gripping story of AC-12, an anti-corruption unit dedicated to rooting out corrupt officers, left audiences on the edge of their seats when series six concluded in 2021 with the revelation that DCI Ian Buckells (played by Nigel Boyle) was the notorious criminal mastermind known as ‘H’.
Chong’s character made her debut in the show’s second series in 2014. As a member of the Major Violent Crime unit, she became romantically involved with DS Steve Arnott and served as an informant for him and AC-12.
Reflecting on the impact of Line Of Duty, Christina expressed how the show’s international acclaim “changed her life.”

Despite not anticipating its massive success, she still gets recognised for her role, which significantly boosted her profile. Working with Jed Mercurio, now a global sensation, was also a highlight for her.
The actress, known for her roles in Black Mirror, Doctor Who, and 24: Live Another Day, is thrilled to be working again with Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar.
She shared: “I worked with Martin Compton on a horror film. It’s one of my first jobs. I think back in the day it was called Red Mist or Freak Dog.
“The name changed. So when I see Martin, it is almost like a homecoming where it’s like, wow, you were there when I first started out. And everyone is so lovely on that set.
“And even Jed, I remember last time I went back during the pandemic, Jed wasn’t meant to be at set, but he came to set to say hi. And I was like, wow, that’s so nice.”

Chong expressed her hope that the ‘true’ identity of H will remain a mystery, allowing Line Of Duty to continue beyond 2026. She admitted this was for a “selfish reason”, adding: “I don’t think they should, because then that means Line Of Duty will be over,”.
She also discussed her burgeoning career in Hollywood, thanks to her significant role as La’an Noonien Singh in the Paramount+ original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Having received considerable acclaim and award nominations, she is now venturing into music by recording her debut album with collaborators of Ed Sheeran.
“I am currently working on an album. Jake Gosling is producing who works with Ed Sheeran. I’m actually in Nashville next week recording and just loving it. Star Trek brought me that, my singing for it. And so my dream is to end up at the O2 in the UK with a gig. There’ll be an EP probably coming out with season three (0f Star Trek). I am co-writing everything.”
