Lee Mack, star of The 1% Club, was quick to reprimand a contestant after they made a disparaging remark about their mother. ITV’s popular gameshow returned on Saturday night (February 8), with a fresh batch of competitors vying for a prize of up to £100,000.
Just minutes into the latest episode, the host had to bid farewell to a contestant who disclosed her intention to use the prize money for cosmetic surgery. Before revealing how much money had been added to the prize pot, Lee asked her son, Michael, if he thought his mother would have lasted longer in the competition.
He responded: “To be honest I’m surprised she got that far.”
Despite the audience bursting into laughter, the host didn’t find the comment amusing and retorted: “That’s a bit harsh. That’s your mother, have some respect,” reports the Mirror.
