EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has quashed the swirling rumours that she’s the celebrity behind The Masked Singer’s Bush.

In a lively exchange on their Off The Telly podcast, co-hosts Joanna Page and Natalie delved into speculation that the EastEnders favourite might be the mystery face behind the character on ITV’s The Masked Singer.

“I’m sorry right, but are you Bush? Everyone thinks that you are Bush. I think you are Bush, I mean all of the clues are making me feel that you are Bush. Are you Bush? ” Joanna asked pointedly. As Joanna pressed for a scoop from her fellow presenter, she thought she had finally cracked the case.

As Natalie responded: “I think Davina (McCall) is onto something. Well, Davina said that it could be Morgana Robinson and then I thought hang on a minute.” Joanna interjected with excitement, “oh my god, you think Morgana is doing your voice? “

Fans have been bombarding Natalie with messages convinced she’s the star under the mask. Joanna dug further, trying to deduce if the 41-year-old really is the Bush, commenting: “The voice sounds like you, but I’m looking at the body language and the body language doesn’t seem like you. You know sometimes you look at them (the contestants) and you can tell, but the body language doesn’t look like you, it’s the voice.”

This isn’t the first time the EastEnders actress has been quizzed on this topic, as she was also recently probed by her nieces on her Life With Nat podcast. Natalie even admitted that the singer’s voice bore a striking resemblance to her own, reports the Mirror.

In the sixth UK series of the hit ITV show, we’ve already seen several singers unmask themselves, with Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway being the first to be revealed. Following her was Pegasus, who was unveiled as Bake Off judge Prue Leith, before Macy Gray, Carol Decker and Mel Giedroyc were the most recent contestants to exit the show.

Kingfisher and Snail were unmasked as Sir Grayson Perry and The Corrs’ Andrea Corr earlier this month. As Natalie is widely speculated to be the person behind The Bush, it wouldn’t mark her debut in reality TV, having previously competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 and later appearing in Celebrity Big Brother in 2012, where she finished eighth.

This news comes just days after Natalie announced her departure from EastEnders once again. She first joined the soap as Sonia Fowler in 1993 and this will be her third exit from Albert Square.

The Masked Singer is set to return tonight (Saturday, February 8) at 7pm on ITV.
