A 35-year-old resident of Whitby faces 12 charges following a Kapuskasing sextortion investigation by James Bay OPP.
On Feb. 5, the OPP received a report that a victim’s former intimate partner had threatened to share intimate images of them online and the subsequent investigation alleged the accused had also assaulted the victim, committed mischief and theft, and violated court-ordered release conditions.
Whitby OPP arrested the accused in Whitby and seized the accused’s cellphone as evidence and charged them with four counts of mischief and one count each of extortion, sexual assault, criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate, assault causing bodily harm – spousal, assault – spousal, theft under $5,000, failure to comply with undertaking and breach of recognizance.
