A desperate search is underway for a Bering Air commercial flight carrying 10 people that disappeared whilst flying over Alaska. The aircraft failed to arrive in Nome after departing from Unalakleet.

The last known contact with the pilot came when he informed Anchorage Air Traffic Control he would “enter a holding pattern” whilst waiting for runway clearance.

Ground search operations are currently active from Nome and White Mountain, according to the Nome Volunteer Fire Department.
