• Toyota recalls 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma due to possibly damaged rear brakes hoses
  • Toyota is also recalling certain models of the Camry, Lexus NX, and RX due to a possibly damaged second-row seatbelt
  • The auto manufacturer will contact owners by mail and replace damaged parts, free of charge

Toyota announced two new safety recalls for some of its newer model years. In the U.S., the first recall involves approximately 106,000 Toyota Tacomas, and another 5,149 units in Canada with a possible rear brake hose issue. The second adds another 41,000 U.S. vehicles, as well as another 1,358 vehicles in Canada that may have a damaged seatbelt in the second row. At the time of writing, neither Transport Canada nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had listed this recall on their respected sites yet.

Toyota Tacoma recalled for potentially damaged rear brake hoses

While Toyota is recalling a very large number of Tacoma pickups, the recall seems to be for a very specific model. The recalled vehicles include certain 2024-2025 model years of the four-wheel drive Tacoma that is equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch wheels. Toyota says approximately 106,000 vehicles are being recalled in the U.S. and another 5,149 Tacomas in Canada.

The Tacoma is being recalled due to a rear brake hose that can be damaged with wear and tear over time, especially if the vehicle is used in off-road conditions and there is a build-up of mud or dirt within the rear wheels. If the brake hose is damaged, it can cause a brake fluid leak which can increase the chance of a crash.

Toyota will notify owners by mail in early April and they will be advised to take their vehicle to a Toyota dealership to have both rear brake hoses inspected. If necessary, the parts will be replaced with improved brake hoses, free of charge.

Toyota recalls certain models over potentially damaged seatbelt

Toyota is also recalling approximately 41,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a seatbelt in the second-row that may be damaged. Certain models of the 2025 Toyota Camry and Lexus NX, as well as the 2024 and 2025 Lexus RX are being recalled in North America. In Canada, 596 Toyota units and 762 Lexus units are affected by the recall.

The recall is being issued due to a possibly damaged seatbelt in the second row, specifically in the centre seat. Toyota says those affected may have been damaged during the manufacturing process. The potential damage could mean the seatbelt may not meet safety standards and “certain strength requirements”. If that’s the case, a passenger seated in the middle seat in the second row may be at a higher risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Owners will be notified by mail in early April and advised to take their vehicle to a Toyota or Lexus dealership to have the seatbelt inspected. If necessary, the seatbelt assembly will be replaced, free of charge.
