Gary Neville has shared his appreciation for a football-related company based in Northern Ireland, even promoting the business on his Stick To Football podcast.

The former Manchester United defender was at Queen’s University Belfast recently, delivering a lecture as part of the Dr Declan Kelly, Consello Leadership Lecture Series, sharing his leadership insights from sport and business.

Rory McLaughlan, a final year student and the Bangor-based entrepreneur behind the Mystery Shirt in a Box e-commerce business, was invited on stage by Gary to share his own story of building the business up to the point where he has sold 100,000 shirts.

He later presented the Sky pundit with a SV Werder Bremen shirt, which Neville then shared on his podcast and social media channels.

“What’s the shirt? Well, last week I went to Ireland. It is very important this, by the way,” Gary says on his podcast, which featured guest star Wayne Rooney.

“And I promised a young man, Rory McLaughlan, who set up a business called Mystery Shirt in a Box. He gave me a shirt. You can go on his website. And he presented me with one. And I basically said I would promote his business on Stick to Football… There you go. Well done Rory.”

An 11-year-old Londonderry girl has also been showing her entrepreneurial spirit in the new year, having just launched her own line of dog shampoo and ‘pawfume’, made of all-natural products.

Year 8 pupil Ella Carlyle created her business, Best Pooch, thanks to her love of animals and the support and promotion of her salon owner mum, Lynne, who told the Belfast Telegraph that Ella has always wanted to run her own dog-related business when she grows up.

“We have a dog groomer who is also interested in Ella’s products now, we sell them in my salon [Mavericks] and we will have a website in the near future where the products will be sold.”

Police in Co Kerry have been making headlines after they sent an American tourist her driving licence back with a hilarious letter, that she herself shared details of on TikTok.

A garda wrote: “Dear Caroline. Please find enclosed your driving licence. This was handed into the Garda station in Killarney, Co Kerry and I am now returning it to you.

“I hope you had a wild and enjoyable time here in Ireland, please feel free to visit us again anytime, and next time, don’t drink so much Guinness and lose your driving licence. It’s a very important document.

“If you have any queries or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Kind regards, Sgt Joe O’Sullivan.”
