A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of interviewing Seamus McKee. When I was a teenager, Seamus was a bright, young, but well established face on the BBC. He read the sports results on Saturday afternoon and from my fading memory shared the duties with the late John Bennett. I admired Seamus as his career took him to current affairs and in-depth political coverage. He’s now retired and is an authority on local history. As I listened to his descriptions and engaged him in conversation, I couldn’t help but think we need more from Seamus on the airwaves. Great presenters like him shouldn’t be allowed to retire. He carries with him a gift like others from that golden generation of exceptional talent who would have plenty left to offer.
