ITV star Christine Lampard was left red-faced in the latest episode of Lorraine. During Friday’s show, Christine was covering for the regular Scottish host as she spoke to singer Jason Donovan.

The duo were speaking about his upcoming tour, although as things wrapped up, he couldn’t help but compliment the 46-year-old.

She told him: “If I could tell my kid-self, when I brought my bomber jacket with a picture of Kylie and Jason on the back that I’d be sitting here now telling you about it, it’s quite a moment. I’ve just got to put it out there.”

As he asked if she was a Kylie and Jason fan, the ITV star was stunned. She replied: “Are you kidding me?! Who wasn’t.” Christine joked that her mum most likely still has the jacket at home, calling it vintage.

While she reeled off details about his tour, wrapping up their chat, Christine said it was great to see him. He replied: “And you, looking great! Friday, fresh, I’m getting excited for the day!”

The host burst out laughing at his enthusiasm as Jason told her he was heading off to rehearsals later on. She replied: “Oh dear, making me blush!”

Elsewhere during their chat, Christine was keen to know if there were any special guests joining him on his tour. When asked if he would be singing Especially For You, which features the vocals of Kylie Minogue, he confirmed he would.

He said: “I will be! Sophie is our backing vocalist. There might be a few little twists! But, I don’t like to preempt any names.”

Excited over the tidbit of information, Christine replied: “Oh ok, there could be a surprise?” Not wanting to give anything away, Jason added: “Anything is possible.”

Jason’s tour kicks off on Valentine’s Day in Cardiff, although Christine was keen to know if he would be making the same entrance as his previous tour.

She said: “You skateboarded on stage the first time around. Will we be seeing that again?”

He replied: “Well Christine, I am 57 this year. It could happen, I’m known to do things on the impulse. I love skateboarding, surfing, I love performing. Sure, it could happen, anything is possible.

“But, I’m also nervous about my back, my right shoulder; I’m more fragile these days! I’m working harder to say more normal, that’s what’s happening with my age.”

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am.
