Labour have been accused of subverting democracy by delaying local elections in May.
Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage held an emergency press conference on Wednesday to rail against the cancellations, saying “I thought that only dictators cancelled elections… but what I see today is collusion to stave off the threat of Reform UK on May 1.”
Writing in The Telegraph, Farage said “Let me be clear. This is wholly undemocratic. It is no coincidence that the areas in which democracy has been suspended are the very same areas in which Reform was to do well.”
He went on to say “Ultimately, Labour and the Conservatives can run scared of Reform and cancel elections if they want to. But they can’t do it forever. We will do well in these local elections, we will do well in those taking place next year. And we will do well in Wales and Scotland next year. And at current rates we will do well at the next General Election in 2029. It’s that which Westminster is so scared of. And so it should be.”
