Celebrity-favourite brand Veronica Beard — Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are among its fans — is expanding its stylish footprint in Canada.
In addition to a boutique in Toronto, the New York-based women’s clothing offering recently expanded to Montreal with a store in the Royalmount shopping centre. Up next, co-founders Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard (who are also sisters-in-law) are setting their sights on Vancouver.
We caught up with the duo to learn more:
Q: For those who aren’t familiar, what is Veronica Beard?
Swanson Beard: We’re a lifestyle brand offering ready-to-wear, denim, footwear and handbags … but we like to think of Veronica Beard as the dream wardrobe for today’s multi-faceted woman. We like to imagine our customer opening her closet and easily reaching for chic, cornerstone pieces that make her look and feel amazing, so that she can go about her day and do amazing things.
Q: Is there a ‘hero’ piece from the brand?
Miele Beard: We started with our iconic dickey jacket. We consider it the Wonder Woman cape, the ultimate wardrobe hero. For those not familiar, our interchangeable dickeys zip into our range of jackets and outerwear creating endless styling possibilities.
VB elevates her daily uniform, and we offer an entire wardrobe that speaks to all her occasions — from work to weekend and everything in between.
Q: How has the brand’s presence in Canada grown in recent years?
Swanson Beard: We have prioritized our presence in Canada with retail spaces in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood and Royalmount’s premier luxury retail stores, as well as a dedicated e-commerce site. These different touch points allow us to deepen our relationship with our Canadian customer and give her a seamless shopping experience.
Q: What’s driving this growth?
Miele Beard: The secret sauce to our success is our knowledge of our customer and being authentic in delivering a look and fit for women everywhere. Canada is an incredible market for us and we’re so honoured that our brand resonates with Canadian women. We will continue to prioritize our Canadian customers as we expand globally.
Q: Are there plans to expand further in 2025?
Swanson Beard: Yes! We are thrilled to be opening in Vancouver slated for fall 2025, our first British Columbian store. We are already busy planning all the special details that will bring that store to life.
