As we’re deep into February and half-term looms, families across the country are on the lookout for last-minute holiday deals that won’t break the bank. Travel experts have suggested the biggest discounts due to be had, with still time to grab a good deal.
Oliver Brendon, CEO of AttractionTickets.com, has provided some insider knowledge, saying there’s an ideal window for booking flights that could lead to substantial savings. He said: “Contrary to what many travellers believe, industry data suggests that booking flights within a window of eight to 23 days before departure can offer some of the most competitive prices for international travel, especially when it comes to places like Florida.”
Not only is this period conducive to savings, but Brendon also pointed out there’s a particularly favourable day within the week to make these bookings. He added: “We also know through historical external data that travellers can sometimes save up to 24 percent on flights if they book them on a Sunday, particularly within this eight to 23-day window.”

For those eyeing a getaway during the February half-term, Brendon pinpoints Sunday, February 9th, or Sunday, February 16th, as the prime dates to lock in those last-second plans. These dates fall snugly within the mentioned window, making them ideal for securing cost-effective holiday bookings just in time for the school break, according to Brendon.
Interestingly, data suggests that Sundays are the optimal days for securing discounted flights. This allows travellers to capitalise on potential savings while avoiding the stress of last-minute price surges, reports the Express.
For those already contemplating their Easter holidays, Brendon offers some valuable advice for booking late Easter trips without breaking the bank.
“In my experience, prices for Easter tend to rise sharply in the two weeks before, so you can avoid this by making sure you book ahead of 25th March,” Brendon advised. He added a word of caution: “Remember, it’s a risk to book things last minute, so opt for using ticketing sites with fixed pricing models like ours and always do your research to get the best deals.”
Whether you’re considering a winter getaway for the February half-term or planning in advance for Easter, securing the best deal often hinges on when you make your booking. With a bit of research and strategic timing, you can snag a fantastic deal and create unforgettable memories without overspending on your next holiday.
