A beloved beauty influencer has lauded a product found in the baby aisle for completely “getting rid” of acne-causing bacteria.
Sadly, spots and acne don’t only affect adolescent skin and those who spend their teenage years battling angry, painful complexions can’t rely on adulthood to completely clear any issues. In fact, spots and acne can be a problem many people face throughout their lives.
Many turn to social media to find proven methods and recommendations from experts and novices alike. Bambi Does Beauty – real name Eleanor – has built up a loyal following of hundreds of thousands across popular platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Her trustworthy and relatable advice has secured her position in the online beauty community. The 34-year-old regularly provides reviews of products she’s used herself and the results she’s experienced, covering high-end luxury brands as well as budget-friendly high street favourites.
In a recent TikTok video, she praised an unexpected item found in the baby section of stores. Speaking directly to the camera, Bambi revealed a list of products she’s deemed “life changing”, but singled out one in particular for its acne-fighting abilities.
She said: “Starting off strong with a hypochlorous acid spray that single handedly gets rid of the acne causing bacteria on your skin.”
What is hypochlorous acid spray?
This is a popular product designed to gently clean the skin and eradicate bacteria. In the baby aisle, the product is often made “with just water and hypochlorous acid from electrolysed water”. It can be used to clean sticky hands, messy faces and more.
Bambi has been vocal about her love for hypochlorous acid sprays, particularly championing the Vital Baby Hygiene AQUAINT® Cleansing Water, available at retailers such as Boots, Superdrug, and Amazon. Now, she’s excited about a new product on the market that includes an extra ingredient for skin comfort.
She explained: “I know I was always banging on about the one found in the baby section, leave some for the babies. This is Boots’ own brand – £5 for 150ml. It’s got aloe in it so it’s a bit more soothing.”
The comments section lit up with reactions. One user humorously posted: “*goes to boots online immediately”.
Another queried: “how often do you recommend using the acne spray??” Bambi responded: “Daily but not in your skincare routine as such – more for when you’re out and about (gym/flights etc!)”.
Meanwhile, another follower expressed difficulty in finding the product: “I can’t find the hypochlorous acid spray on Boots? Anyone got the link?”
However, one commenter decided to remain loyal to the original recommendation: “Just had a look at the ingredients for the spray and it has loads of preservatives… the vital baby one only has 2 ingredients so I think I’ll be sticking to that one! PLUS it’s WAY cheaper”.
As with any new skincare product, Bambi advises conducting a patch test before full use. Apply a small amount to a discreet area like the inner elbow or wrist, and wait 24 hours to ensure there’s no allergic reaction or sensitivity.
If you notice any adverse effects such as itching, burning sensations, or flaky skin, it’s crucial to discontinue the use of the product immediately.
