Former MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace has quietly returned to social media promoting his weight loss business after he was dropped from the show following accusations of sexual comments and behaviour.
At the end of 2024, 13 women who had worked with Wallace came forward to accuse the 60-year-old of being inappropriate.
Wallace’s lawyers denied the accusations, saying it was entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature. MasterChef’s production company Banijay UK has since launched an investigation and said Wallace is co-operating.
After the accusations came to light, Wallace took to his Instagram to say they were being made by “middle-class women of a certain age”.
“I’ve been doing MasterChef for 20 years – amateur, professional and Celebrity MasterChef – and I think in that time I have worked with over 4,000 contestants of all different ages, all different backgrounds, all walks of life,” Wallace said.
“And apparently now, I’m reading in the paper, there’s been 13 complaints in that time.”
He later apologised for his remarks, saying “I want to apologise for any offence that I caused with my post yesterday and any upset I may have caused to a lot of people.
“I wasn’t in a good head space when I posted it, I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion, I felt very alone, under siege yesterday when I posted it.
“It’s obvious to me I need to take some time out now while this investigation is under way. I hope you understand and I do hope you accept this apology.”
Wallace disappeared from the limelight shortly after, and was replaced on MasterChef by food critic Grace Dent.
Now, the 60-year-old has quietly returned to media. He posted this morning, February 6, a video of the outdoors on his Instagram story with the caption “Make a great start. What are you not gonna do today” with the song ‘Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime’ by The Korgis playing.
Yesterday, he wished his followers “Good Morning” and then posted another story saying “Health and weight loss can’t happen if we haven’t planned our meals.
“We have to make food one of our daily priorities”.
He also posted two videos on his main feed, one a recipe for protein pancakes, the other for breakfast crumble. Both videos were promotions of his business GreggWallace.Health, a platform and frozen meals delivery service that promotes weight loss and health eating.
In the comment section under his videos, many have welcomed him back to social media, with his previous post being from November 2024, just before the accusations came to light.
Wallace ‘liked’ all the positive comments, replying to some saying “hi”.
He also replied “lol” to one comment that read: “Let’s hope you’ve used your time away wisely and straightened the pictures, levelled the shelves and tidied the books.”
The chef has not made any more comments regarding the accusations.
