Ayeisha McFerran makes her return to the Ireland squad after her injury woes.

The Larne woman has been named in Ireland women’s head coach Gareth Grundie’s squad for this month’s FIH Nations Cup in Chile .

McFerran, a former World Goalkeeper of the Year, suffered a long-term injury on club duty in the Dutch League playing for HC Tillberg.

Ireland’s pool opponents in South America will be Scotland, New Zealand and South Korea, with UCD’s Mikayla Power and Loreto’s Emily Kealy the two new caps in the 18-strong panel which will be captained by Sarah Hawkshaw for the first time.

Hawkshaw is joined by the experienced Roisín Upton, Elena Neill and previous skipper Katie Mullan.

Commenting on the tournament, Grundie said: “We’ve had a really good six-week block as build-up and a productive trip to Spain last week preparing for the tournament. We can’t wait to get started.

“The team have learned a lot from the last one (2024 Nations Cup).”
