A person has died on train tracks in the South West. Emergency services were called to the railway line between Chippenham and Bath Spa at around 2pm today (Wednesday, February 5) to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Trains between the stations were stopped while police and paramedics were called to the tracks. A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said a person was confirmed to have died at the scene.

Their death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line between Bath and Chippenham at about 2pm today (5 February) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
