A man has been arrested after police seized suspected cannabis worth around £12,000 in east Belfast on Wednesday.
Police confirmed the arrest of the man took place earlier this morning.
The PSNI said at around 10.25am it was reported to officers that a number of packages addressed to an individual were received at a business premises in the east of the city.
Upon inspection, it was believed that suspected cannabis was discovered inside.
The suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of £12,000, was taken away by police for further forensic examination.
PSNI Sergeant McAleavy said: “Subsequently, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of importing a controlled drug, being concerned in supply of a Class B Controlled drug and possession of a Class B Controlled drug. He remains in police custody at this time.
“The Police Service of Northern Ireland is committed to removing controlled drugs from our streets and investigating those involved in the supply of such drugs.
“I would ask if anyone has any information about suspected drug dealing in their area to call the non-emergency number 101.”
