Luke Littler has refused to give up on Manchester United’s flops, insisting they must ‘stick together’ to come through a difficult period.

The teenager is an avid United supporter and was invited to parade the Sid Waddell trophy around Old Trafford last month following his World Championship victory.

The momentous occasion for Littler was somewhat spoiled by the result as United fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

Ruben Amorim’s side were defeated once again at home this past weekend, losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace.

The result has piled further misery one what has become a disastrous campaign for United.

They currently sit 13th in the table, 27 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

A number of key players in United’s squad are of similar age to Littler and the darts sensation knows what it is like to face some scrutiny.

The 18-year-old has given an insight into how he copes with the limelight at times while offering some advice to the young players in United’s squad.

“I just don’t listen to social media,” he said.

“That’s one of the big things.

“In the football world, it’s totally different. You have to keep your head down.

“When it’s a darts game, you are on your own. When it’s United, you have a whole team around you, so they must stick together.”

While the result against Brighton last month put a dampener on the day for Littler, it didn’t take away from a special moment he shared with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Littler revealed he managed to speak with the legendary United manager in a moment he will cherish forever.

“It was probably one of the best moments of my life and will live with me forever,” Littler said.

“I was scheduled to parade the trophy before kick-off but Denis Law had passed away.

“There was an empty seat there where Denis would have sat on matchday.

“I sat behind Sir Alex Ferguson and was chatting to him for a bit, which was good. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.”
