A now-former dermatologist is accused of sexually assaulting one of his patients at a medical clinic in Scarborough.

Toronto Police say a woman came forward claiming the incident occurred during a medical examination at a medical clinic near Tapscott and Neilson Rds. on Nov. 10, 2023.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and arrested him last Friday.

Paul Adam, of Toronto, is charged with one count of sexual assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.

According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario website, Adam was referred to the Discipline Tribunal on allegations of sexual abuse of patients and disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct in March 2024 and he is no longer licensed to practice.

“In the face of these allegations, effective April 30, 2024, Dr. Adam resigns from the College and has agreed never to apply or reapply for registration as a physician in Ontario or any other jurisdiction,” the CPSO website states. “In light of this resignation and undertaking not to reapply, these matters were not before the Discipline Tribunal and no findings were made.”

Police say investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call police at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
