Two teenagers accused of throwing rocks at vehicles face a slew of new charges stemming from incidents that terrorized motorists in York Region for months.
York Regional Police say the two males, now 17 and 18, were arrested last week, on Jan. 27, for several rock-throwing incidents in Markham and Stouffville dating back to July 2024.
The 18-year-old male was initially charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000.
But he now faces 13 additional charges of mischief under $5,000 in relation to incidents that occurred on Jan. 26.
The 17-year-old boy was originally charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.
But he now faces five additional charges of mischief under $5,000 and one count of assault with a weapon from incidents in 2024, as well as a further 13 charges of mischief under $5,000 in relation to incidents on Jan. 26.
The accused can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because both were under 18 when the incidents began.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.

SUSPECTED FRAUDSTER SOUGHT FOR USING STOLEN DEBIT CARD
A man is sought for allegedly making fraudulent transactions with a stolen debit card in North York.
Toronto Police say a wallet was reported stolen on Dec. 18, 2024, and a man subsequently used the debit card from the wallet to complete “several transactions” in the area of Steeles Ave. W. and Dufferin St.
Investigators have released an image of the suspect, who is described as 30 to 40 years old, with a medium build and a short beard. He was wearing a black jacket and a black toque.
