Star of the new Bridget Jones’ movie, Leo Woodall, shared that he no longer takes the tube after an uncomfortable encounter with a fan. The British actor stars as Renee Zellweger’s love interest in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and rose to prominence for his role as Dexter Mayhew in Netflix’s series ‘One Day’, an adaptation of David Nicholls book of the same name.

But with fame can come so uncomfortable moments, and in an interview with Elle, Woodall spoke about one specific interaction with a fan that left him feeling “icky”.

“I don’t really get the Tube any more. [A woman] told me her husband gets really jealous. It was just so uncomfortable. It did all go a bit nuts for me. At first it was, like, ‘oh this is cool’, and pretty quickly it just started to feel a bit icky.”

Woodall said since being in the limelight he’s taking inspiration from fellow actor Bryan Cranston, saying instead of “getting caught up” in fame, “he’s just kept a lid on it and made some really good work”.

In that vain, he’s also trying to keep his relationship with White Lotus co-star Meghann Fahy as private as possible.

“We’re very good at keeping it as private as we can. To me, that’s the only way. You see public relationships all the time slapped all over social media and I can’t imagine that’s any fun. It should be a safe space and so I think letting people into it is completely counterproductive,” Woodall said.

Speaking about filming the latest Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Woodall said he “must’ve seen the first film at least 20 times”.

He added that Renee Zellweger is “a dream”, adding: “Everyone on set not only loved her but felt safe with her. You expect someone that celebrated to be a little difficult or have an ego, but she’s just the loveliest.”
