Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com has shared tips on how to increase the likelihood of receiving a complimentary £100 from Nationwide. The building society has previously distributed a “Fairer Share” bonus for two consecutive years to select customers, with last year’s giveaway totalling £385 million in June, benefiting 3.85 million customers.

Eligibility was determined by meeting specific criteria within the year’s first quarter. MSE advises: “Now’s the perfect time to maximise your chances.”

While Nationwide hasn’t confirmed whether it will repeat the bonus this year, as it hinges on its financial results expected in May, MSE suggests that the eligibility requirements are likely to remain consistent.

To qualify last year, customers needed a qualifying current account and either a mortgage or savings account with Nationwide. For those with a FlexAccount, FlexBasic, or FlexDirect, the conditions included opening the account by March 31, 2024, depositing a minimum of £500, and making two outgoing payments in two of the first three months, or conducting at least ten transactions.

For those holding a FlexOne, FlexGraduate, or FlexStudent account, all that was required was to have made a transaction in or out of your account in March 2025. FlexPlus packaged accounts were also eligible as long as the account fee had been paid, reports the Mirror.

Additionally, you needed to have at least £100 in savings or owe at least £100 on a mortgage with Nationwide. Nationwide reached out to all qualifying customers by May 31 last year, and payments were processed between June 13 and June 28.

If you’re contemplating switching to Nationwide, there’s currently a switch bonus of £175 on offer. To be eligible, you must transfer at least two active direct debits, deposit a minimum of £1,000, and make one debit card payment within 31 days.

You’ll also gain access to a linked regular saver offering 6.5% variable interest for a year. The bonus is available when switching to a FlexPlus, FlexDirect, or a FlexAccount.

Even existing Nationwide customers with one of these accounts can secure the extra cash by switching from another non-Nationwide account to their account, provided they meet the qualifying criteria.
