Amazon has unveiled a rare discount on the 2024 edition of the Apple MacBook Air, slashing £150 off its price. The laptop is now discounted to £849, down from the usual £999, in a limited time deal.
According to price tracker camelcamelcamel, this is the cheapest price ever offered – beating Apple’s own price of £999 – but Amazon has not confirmed when the deal will end. Several other retailers including Argos and Currys have also matched Amazon’s deal, with the reduced price applied to each of the three colour variants, midnight, space grey and starlight.
Weighing in at 1.24kg, the MacBook Air is powered by Apple’s M2 chip, which the brand says helps you ‘get more done faster’. It also has a powerful battery that can run up to 18 hours from a single charge, reports MyLondon.

The device also boasts a 13.6″ Liquid Retina Display, 256GB of storage, a 1080p camera and Spatial Audio. Connectivity options include a MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt ports and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
The 2024 MacBook Air has earned an impressive 4.7-star after 1,079 reviews. One satisfied customer said: “One of my favourite all-time laptops and a pleasure to use. The keyboard is my favourite: light touch, sensitive and responsive with absolutely no noticeable lag. The screen which is amazing; sharp, bright and does not cause any eye strain, while the battery lasts quite long.
“The only feature I miss is the touch bar. So far I haven’t experienced any noticeable performance degradation even though this has 8GB RAM compared to my other MacBook, however I do recommend the 16GB variant rather than the 8GB for ‘future-proof’ because the memory is unified (cannot be upgraded). Amazing laptop.”

Another said: “Decided to upgrade and have no regrets. Super fast and perfect for what I need it for. Like night and day from my old Mac. Loving it. Highly recommend.”
A third happy buyer said: “I ordered the midnight black version and it looks very sleek and classy. In terms of functionality it’s absolutely wonderful and perfect for my studies and work. The price is really worth all the things I’m getting from this laptop.”
However, not all reviews of the MacBook Air were glowing, as another shopper said: “The screen of these laptops are horrible. My eyes tear up and I lose focus immediately. The hinge also makes a popping/grating sound. Will be returning and looking to get an IPS, high frequency matte panel where I can actually read text without feeling the need to throw up.”
For those considering alternatives, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge could be a good option for those who prefer Windows devices, and is currently £330 off at £519 from Currys. Other Windows devices include the HP Chromebook 15a-nb0502sa, which is down to £329.99 from £479 at Debenhams.
