She recommends saving your egg shells from the bin as they could be your eco-friendly answer to a sparkling oven. When combined with a few basic items and minimal effort, you’ll whip up the perfect potion to combat that greasy grime, reports the Express.

She said: “Egg shells are rich in calcium which is good for the bones and also good for removing burnt grease.”

To do this, you’ll need around 20 eggs shells, which have been thoroughly rinsed. Once cleaned, arrange them on a baking sheet and pop them into the oven at 180C for about 20 minutes to dry out..

After baking the shells and grinding them into a fine powder, they are mixed with a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda to create a cleaning paste.

The cleaner demonstrated the method by scrubbing the bottom of a greasy pan with the paste and a little water, before wiping it clean. The result was a gleaming pan that looked brand new compared to the other half still covered in stains.

This eggshell mixture can also be used to clean hobs, ovens, or any other areas stained with food. Additionally, eggshells serve as a natural plant fertiliser.

The cleaning guru sprinkled some of the eggshell powder into her houseplants, providing them with a slow-release calcium boost.

But plants aren’t the only ones that can benefit from this hack. The expert suggests adding the eggshell powder to porridge or smoothies for an extra dose of calcium, essential for bone health.

However, she advises ensuring the shells are thoroughly washed before making the powder to eliminate any potential germs.
