Many royal enthusiasts quickly pointed out that the themes of romance and second chances would resonate with the Duchess of Sussexes own experience.

Meghan met Prince Harry in July 2016 and later married the Duke of Sussex in May 2018.

The now Californian-based royals announced they would step back as senior working royals in January 2020 following an increasingly fractured relationship with other members of the firm.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside in California with their two children and are not thought to be on speaking terms with King Charles or Prince William.

Meghan and Harry broke Netflix records when they released their debut documentary, Harry & Meghan, which told the story of their lives since meeting from their point of view.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex bought the rights to the novel Meet Me at the Lake in 2023 for £3million through their production company, Archewell Productions, according to Penguin House.

The new adaption, set to be produced by Archewell Productions, will be available exclusively on Netflix.

The Netflix boss also vowed that the streaming site will stand by Harry and Meghan and added that the duchess’s new show, With Love, Meghan – released on March 4 – will be a major hit.
