Charlie Cooper is set to join his famous sister Daisy May Cooper on-screen once more in the hit BBC One dark comedy Am I Being Unreasonable?
Filmed in Bristol and the West Country, viewerscan catch the show at 9.30pm on Wednesday (February 5) as Daisy May returns both as the star and writer.
The first season of Am I Being Unreasonable? was a roaring success for the BBC in 2022, with a viewership of 3.2 million.
It even bagged three RTS Awards and earned three BAFTA nominations, including one for best male comedy performance thanks to Lenny Rush’s portrayal of Nic’s son Ollie.
The new series will see familiar faces like Selin Hizli, Dustin Demri-Burns, and Lenny Rush reprising their roles, accompanied by a selection of guest actors throughout the second series.
Viewers should be particularly excited about Charlie Cooper, making his first onscreen return alongside sister Daisy May since they won a BAFTA for This Country.
The Mirror reports his character is Dutch IT consultant Jurgen and residing as the lodger of Nic’s cleaner, Viv.
Sporting a mullet, Charlie’s appearance includes presenting tarot cards to Nic, suggesting insights into her future.
Regarding her brother’s talents, Daisy May shared some lighthearted behind-the-scenes moments: “I made Charlie wear a mullet wig and glasses and speak with a Dutch accent.
“The funny thing was, he kept dropping the accent because he wasn’t very good at it. We ended up having to write that into the script later on to explain Jurgen’s strange way of speaking.”
Charlie Cooper’s cameo has been hailed as the standout guest appearance in the latest instalment of the award-winning comedy series.
After finding success with This Country, Charlie Cooper has showcased his talent in various roles including Stags, See How They Run, Stath Lets Flats, and more recently in Charlie Cooper’s Myth Country.
Other illustrious guest stars lighting up the screen this season feature the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Chelsea Peretti and actor Tom Davis, known for his work in Wonka.
The star-studded lineup includes appearances by Denise Black (Queer as Folk), Jamali Maddix (Never Mind the Buzzcocks), British rapper and poet Kojey Radical, Helen Ann Bauer (Live at the Apollo), Marek Larwood (We Are Klang) and Karla Crome (Under the Dome).
A plot teaser from the BBC reads: “Series two will begin where series one left off, mid panic attack. Has Nic got away with murder? Quite possibly.
“Has she raised her son Ollie to follow in her murky footsteps? Kicked out of the family home for brotherly love – loving the wrong brother – Nic is reduced to sharing a caravan with her not-so-trustworthy best friend, Jen.
“Nic’s Husband Dan has taken up roller-blading to channel his mid-life crisis.
“Shunned at the school gates and cast as the witch at the school re-enactment, Nic is experiencing hallucinations. Or is someone playing tricks on her?”
Am I Being Unreasonable? series two airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9.30pm on February 5. The first series is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
