The company founded by diet and wellbeing guru Michael Mosley has highlighted the best ways to lose weight quickly. The Fast 800 weight programme said that losing pounds could be kickstarted by their rapid weight loss plan.
It said if people do achieve good results fast it could act as a motivating factor. The scheme said: “Rapid weight loss can be a great way to kickstart weight loss. Achieving results quickly is incredibly motivating, and can help reduce symptoms that may have been holding you back while at a heavier weight, like fatigue and joint pain.“
In a new post, the plan explained that its most read article of 2025 so far – meaning that many people are looking to begin the year with a weight loss bang. The Fast 800 plan was created by Dr Michael Mosley, who tragically died last year.
It isn’t for the faint-hearted and bascially those on it are restricted to 800 calories a day . Other methods include The Very Fast 800, The 5:2 Diet or the Way of Life.
In a post the Fast 800 team gave six tips for anyone wanting to get 2025 started with shedding weight quickly.
Don’t eat snacks. Having little and often on top of meals ‘adds up quickly’. It said: “Particularly if you’re snacking on carby or ultra-processed foods like crisps or even ‘healthy’ snack bars. Additionally, eating between meals spikes your blood sugar and reduces the time your body has to digest and recover from a full meal.”
Dr Mosley previously said that what is in the snacks is the most important thing: “It’s all about the timing and the quality of the snacks. People who were snacking on unhealthy food had high bad cholesterol, lower good cholesterol, they tended to also have higher weight around the waist and yet we found people, even if they were snacking a lot but they were on healthy foods, actually didn’t have any of this increase in risks.”
Eat protein and fibre: “Eating enough protein and fibre is key to healthy weight loss. We recommend consuming 60g of protein per day, and 30g of fibre to reap the full benefits they have to offer. Not only do they help you maintain muscle mass, boost energy levels and improve gut health, but they’re shown to help keep you fuller for longer so you’ll be less likely to crave a snack later on.”
Dr Mosley recommends eating at least 60g of protein per day to take advantage of the macronutrient’s benefits. According to the doctor, a protein rich diet can boost the metabolism, reduce appetite, change weight-regulating hormones and can also:
Increase weight loss while sleeping
- Maintain good bone health
- Lower risk of osteoporosis
- Lower blood pressure
- Reduce risk of cardiovascular disease
Exercise: The Fast 800 plan said: “iet and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to how to kickstart weight loss. In particular, studies have shown the positive effects of combining high-intensity aerobic exercise (like HIIT) with resistance training to maximise weight loss and muscle mass maintenance.Additionally, exercise reduces the frequency of hunger signals by stabilising blood sugars, often leading to better food choices throughout the day.”
Sleep: “Sleep helps curb cravings by altering the hormones associated with hunger, like ghrelin which promotes hunger and leptin which reduces it.7 It’s also proven that sleep deprivation increases your preference for sweet, salty and starchy foods drastically. So, if you want to boost your weight loss and reduce cravings, try getting in an extra hour of sleep.”
Michael Mosley’s five tips to help improve your sleep are 1. Slow your breath · 2. Use the morning light · 3. Enjoy your bed · 4. Warm up to cool down · 5. Listen to your body.
