Chocolate lovers are being urged to stock up on one specific Kit-Kat bar after the announcement it will be discontinued this summer and will vanish from shop shelves. Despite its seeming popularity, the KitKat Vegan won’t be on shop shelves for much longer, after Nestlé announced the decision to stop manufacturing the treat.
KitKat was one of the first big brands to offer a fully vegan option for consumers back in 2021 and, despite the hype, global demand for the dairy-free bar has dropped over time, resulting in this move to stop making it. One disappointed fan said they liked the vegan version more than the regular Kit-Kat bar.
The brand recognised that the decision would cause “some disappointment” but continued to share that fans of the vegan bar still had a chance to stock up on them. On social media, fans of the chocolate shared their sadness over the decision. One person called the news “devastating” adding that they “can’t believe [it]”.
Another said the move showed signs of “going backwards”, whilst a third person chimed in saying: “I liked it more than the regular KitKat.”
“Buying up all the #Vegan Kitkats from my local Tesco before they are discontinued,” a fan shared.
“We know that KitKat Vegan has been popular for those looking for dairy or vegan alternatives. Unfortunately, global demand has been reducing to the point that production was making manufacturing more and more complex and we have now made the difficult decision to discontinue the product,” a spokesperson for Nestlé said.
“It will still be available in the UK and Ireland until the summer,” they added.
