Eva McConvile, like countless other women, was plagued by insecurities about her body—specifically her lack of curves. The 38-year-old Liverpool native had always felt embarrassed and awkward about her flat chest, a feeling that had haunted her for as long as she could remember.

As a mother, Eva resorted to wearing bras laden with pads and silicone inserts just to create the illusion of shape, a reality that deeply affected her self-esteem. The professional hairdresser’s anxiety around her body image was so intense that she would decline family holiday invitations to avoid donning a bikini.

Eva said: “It definitely made me feel less womanly.” She revealed how her struggles hindered her: “It’s impacted me for a long time, I just didn’t want to go on family holidays. I was very self-conscious of it.

“I remember my mum going out to buy bikinis for me, padded ones, even though I had the padded ones, you could tell my chest was absolutely flat.”

She added: “I remember crying my eyes out in the bedroom, not wanting to go on holiday. That’s how much it affected me. I didn’t want to go with my brothers and sisters”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Tired of letting her insecurities rule her life, Eva took a bold step in October 2023. After years of saving, she underwent breast augmentation surgery at Manchester Private Hospital, an investment that cost around £7,000.

For Eva, the price was inconsequential compared to the transformative effect it had on her life. She expressed her relief: “I had nothing at all,” and reflected on the outcome: “I finally got the money to get it done and it’s just changed my life completely.

“I couldn’t wear certain clothes because of it. I couldn’t wear certain clothes because of it.

“[I had been] saving for a long time, years. My mum helped me out with some of the money.

“Before the surgery, they gave me the clothes I had to put on and talked me through the procedure. I went under and I came out.

“It was a bit painful afterwards but it was well worth it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.

“Recovery wasn’t too bad; the first few days were uncomfortable if you were laying down to sit up. It wasn’t too bad. I would definitely go and get it done again.”

Eva’s transformation was immediate – going from an AA cup to a DD cup – a makeover that has taken her confidence “through the roof”.

She is now urging others not to judge those who have chosen to have cosmetic surgery to feel happier in their own skin.

“I really had nothing, I went to a DD,” Eva said. “I’m able to wear the clothes I want, it’s absolutely amazing. It’s taken my confidence right through the roof. It was well worth the money.

“I would tell anyone it’s worth getting it done if it makes you feel better. It was the best thing I’ve had done; I wish I done it sooner.”

“If it makes you feel better and more confident, don’t worry what other people think of you getting surgery.”
