Hundreds of Lloyds and Halifax customers are reportedly unable to make or receive payments in a new bank app glitch. Downdetector, a website that tracks outages and issues with services across the country in real time, says around 400 people have had difficulty since early this morning with Lloyds, Monday, February 3.

As of around 8am, there had been 406 reports over Lloyds. The Daily Record reports that the majority of issues raised are to do with fund transfers, with more than 60 per cent of people struggling with this problem.

Other people have experienced issues with online banking and mobile banking. The outage map from the website shows most of the issues are in England. Manchester and Birmingham appear to be two of the worst affected areas, along with areas such as Nottingham, Cambridge and Hull.

A total of 300 customers have also reported issues with the Halifax app, according to DownDector. It comes after many Barclays customers faced around three days of disruption due to an app outage that left many people unable to make payments.

Some were unable to pay for groceries. Others said they could not feed their families – and one person said they were unable to complete a house purchase. That issue was resolved on Sunday and Barclays says nobody will be left out of pocket.

Customers on X have hit out about the Lloyds issues. One said: “Sort out your system!! Sent money to my account over 2 hours ago now!!! Normally goes in instantly wtf is going on… People have children to provide for which are having to go without because the money wasn’t there straight away on an ‘instant’ transfer.”

Another said: “Mine and my partners salary transfers have not been received into our Lloyds accounts, despite having debited our HSBC business account and we both have payments due out. What is going on?”

A third wrote: “Sent money over 2 hours to my Lloyds account it’s still not received in my account”.

Halifax customers are also reporting issues on X. One said: “I am missing an incoming fast payment which is urgent – what is happening?” Halifax customer service responded to say: “We know some customers are having issues making or receiving payments. We’re sorry for this & are working to have everything back to normal.”
