Just hours before the evening’s show, The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett delivered an exciting teaser for Saturday night’s episode.
During a commercial break on James Martin’s Saturday Morning, 39-year-old Joel popped up in a video advert for The Masked Singer, sharing some thrilling news with viewers.
Joel announced: “This week on The Masked Singer we’ve got two massive reveals, yes, it’s a double unmasking! So come and have twice as much fun with me, Mo, Davina, Maya and Jonathan. The Masked Singer continues tonight on ITV1 and ITV X.”
The popular ITV competition returned recently with fresh celebrity contenders concealed beneath intricate costumes and masks.
The latest cast of disguised stars includes Bush, Dressed Crab, Bear, Kingfisher, Pegasus, Pufferfish, Snail, Spag Bol, Tattoo, Teeth, Toad In The Hole, and Wolf, reports the Mirror.
The series has already seen a string of revelations with Toad In The Hole being revealed as Macy Gray, Pegasus as Prue Leith, Spag Bol as Kate Garraway, and Tattoo as Carol Decker. Most recently, last week unveiled Teeth as Mel Giedroyc.
In the previous show, which was broadcast on 25 January, characters like Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Teeth, and Wolf gave stellar performances.
But regrettably, Teeth lost out and was exposed as Mel following their showdown against Bear.
Social media platforms were abuzz immediately after, especially Twitter, now X, where shocked fans expressed their amazement, confessing they hadn’t guessed that it was Mel, 56, who is famed for co-presenting The Great British Bake Off during its BBC days.
Fans took to social media to express their reactions, with one saying: “Well that’s hilarious, I had absolutely no idea it was Mel #TheMaskedSinger”, while another praised her, commenting: “Love Mel she’s such a lovely funny lady fair play to her! #TheMaskedSinger”.
Another fan couldn’t hide their excitement: “I am obsessed with Mel being Teeth #TheMaskedSinger” and yet another was shocked: “mel giedroyc on the masked singer WHATTTT #TheMaskedSinger.”
Post-reveal, Mel shared her joy and humour about the experience, saying: “I’ll take Su Pollard! It’s so nice to see you guys. I love these teeth so much! I was very pleased with Alex Scott. Such a fun show, it’s impossible not to have fun on this show!”
In a post-show interview on The After Mask with Harriet Rose, Mel expressed her elation and a tinge of sadness at leaving the show, stating: “Oh my God, I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it! I’m sad because my next song was The Pointer Sisters Automatic done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun.”
