King Charles looks set to star in a feature-length documentary on Amazon Prime, with filming already underway at Dumfries House in Scotland.
The film aims to “show, not tell” viewers how to “transform people, places and ultimately the planet”, palace sources have claimed.
It marks a significant departure from traditional royal documentaries, which have typically been produced by British broadcasters like the BBC and ITV.
A source told The Times: “More than any other documentary he has done before, the aim seems to be to tell the world what the King stands for and what he is all about.”

The palace confirmed the King is “greatly looking forward to seeing how the Harmony concept can be communicated to a new and international audience, using some of the best creative talents in TV”.
The documentary will focus on the philosophy outlined in the King’s 2010 book “Harmony: A New Way of Looking At Our World”, which called for a “dramatic revolution” in how we view the world.
In the book, King Charles wrote: “The many environmental and social problems that now loom large on our horizon cannot be solved by carrying on with the very approach that has caused them.”
He expressed frustration that people misunderstood his work, writing: “So many appeared to think… that I was merely leaping from one subject to another, from architecture one minute to agriculture the next.”

A palace source said: “It’s astonishing, really, what has been put into practice since publication of the original book, 15 years ago, and how many of those pioneering ideas have been adopted in differing ways.”
The film will explore how people, nature and the built environment are interlinked through the King’s charity work in the UK and overseas.
The documentary is expected to be broadcast in late 2025 or early 2026, with Amazon selected after consultations with several platforms.
The move comes as Netflix maintains a multimillion-dollar deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which is due to expire later this year.
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:
Prince Harry and Meghan’s projects include their 2022 record-breaking docuseries “Harry & Meghan” and an upcoming lifestyle programme, “With Love, Meghan”, due in March.
The King’s choice of Amazon might raise eyebrows, as the platform recently produced “A Very Royal Scandal”, dramatising Prince Andrew’s controversial Newsnight interview.
Palace sources emphasise this will not be a “fly-on-the-wall” documentary about the King, but rather about his work inspiring sustainable communities worldwide.
Amazon UK is working with a production company alongside the palace and the King’s Foundation, headquartered at Dumfries House.
