A van was nearly washed out to sea after being found on its side on a beach in Cornwall. The vehicle was discovered at the base of cliffs at Polpeor Cove, Lizard Point, yesterday morning (Thursday, January 30).

A picture shows the van at the bottom of steps leading to the secluded cove. Emergency services, including the coastguard, were called to the scene. The Lizard lifeboat was also called, along with Porthoustock and Mullion Coastguard Rescue Teams, to clear up debris in the bay.

Fortunately, the driver of the van was unharmed and managed to get out with his dog before the tide came in. It is not clear how the van ended up there, reports CornwallLive.

Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Together with colleagues at Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team and Devon & Cornwall Police we investigated the scene and made sure no one was in imminent danger.

“Meanwhile The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station cleared up some associated debris in the bay. Do stay clear of the vehicle if it is still on the beach if you visit.”
