In a recent episode of The Chase, host Bradley Walsh nearly ended one player’s game prematurely. Rumun, a Manchester resident, revealed his profession, which took Bradley by surprise.

The popular ITV quiz show welcomed new hopefuls including Sally, Rumun, Sharron and Taven, ready to face off against The Chaser.

As the show proceeded, after both Taven and Sharron bowed out, it was Rumun’s turn to challenge Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer. But things turned a tad awkward when Bradley was about to disqualify the 23- year-old after learning what he did for a living.

Upon hearing “I’m a tax advisor Brad” from Rumun, Bradley quipped in jest: “And for you The Chase is over.”

The job title visibly stunned the ITV host, but after a brief pause, Bradley declared: “Right you’re back in the game”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Not only was Bradley tickled by Rumun’s occupation, but also by his support for Derby County football club.

While bantering with Rumun, Shaun Wallace couldn’t resist chiming in with a joke, saying: “Well you’re a tax advisor and a County fan, you do a lot of accounting for losses then.”

Rumun responded with a chuckle and a “Good one” before diving into the quiz.

Despite putting up a “quality performance” just like his teammates, Rumun didn’t advance to the final round, leaving Sally to go up against The Dark Destroyer on her own.

After being enticed by a £100,000 offer, Sally opted for the safer £4,000 bid. Unfortunately, her attempt fell short against Shaun, who busted her modest score of nine with a whole minute to spare.

Although the episode of the ITV quiz brought entertainment, some viewers grumbled upon suspecting that the show was a “repeat.”

A confused audience member posted online: “I thought I’d seen it before?” while another lamented: “Just tuned in and just tuned out again it must be about 10 yrs old.”

The sense of déjà vu wasn’t new for The Chase aficionados, having encountered the same issue the previous evening. They tuned in expecting fresh material only to be served a repeat.

Observant fans were quick to spot that the ‘new’ episode was in fact an encore, despite TV listings claiming otherwise.

ITV didn’t escape criticism for this blunder. Venting on social media, a viewer expressed frustration: “Get your act together ITV, this episode was only aired about a week ago ffs….. #thechase.”

Someone else remarked in exasperation: “NEW #TheChase Don’t think so. This is a repeat! @ITV garbage.”

The comments didn’t stop there as more fans shared their irritation, with tweets such as: “Just turned on…probably already been noted, but this ‘new’ The Chase, is definitely a repeat #thechase,” and “This episode of #TheChase says New, yet it was on so recently I knew what the contestant was going to say before he said it. #repeat.”
