A person has been taken to hospital following a medical emergency at a supermarket in Bristol. Saisnbury’s at Castle Court was closed this afternoon (Friday, January 31) while emergency services were at the scene.

Paramedics were called at around 1pm and were assisted at the scene by Avon and Somerset Police. A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12:59hrs on Friday 31 January to an incident near Brislington, Bristol.

“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, a critical care car, an operations officer and a hazardous area response team to the scene and we conveyed one patient by land ambulance to hospital.”

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s added: “Our Castle Court store temporarily closed for a short period earlier this afternoon to support the emergency services. The store has reopened and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed officers attended the supermarket this afternoon to assist the ambulance services with a medical emergency.
