Prince Andrew remained in contact with Jeffrey Epstein for two months longer than he previously claimed, newly revealed court documents show.
The Duke of York told the convicted sex offender they should “keep in close touch” in February 2011, despite stating he had cut all ties in December 2010.
The communications emerged in a filing by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which is defending an appeal by former Barclays Bank boss Jes Staley.
The Duke said that his last contact with Epstein was during their infamous meeting in New York’s Central Park in December 2010.

The emails, first reported by Bloomberg, show Prince Andrew responding to Epstein about arranging a meeting with Staley, then a senior executive at JP Morgan bank.
In court filings, an email from February 27, 2011, shows Epstein writing to the Duke: “Jes staley will be in London on next tue afternoon, if you have time”.
Prince Andrew responded by confirming the date and adding: “Keep in close touch and well play some more soon”.
Earlier exchanges reveal Epstein had invited Andrew to meet with Staley in June 2010.

It was also disclosed in 2023 that Epstein wrote to Staley in February 2011, stating that “Andrew asked for your London schedule”.
The revelations came to light in documents related to Staley’s appeal against a £1.8 million fine and ban from senior financial services positions, imposed in 2023 over misleading statements about his relationship with Epstein.
These new revelations directly contradict Prince Andrew’s statements during his 2019 infamous Newsnight interview, where he discussed his friendship with the convicted paedophile.
In that interview, the Duke insisted he had no contact with Epstein after their December 2010 meeting in New York.

He said: “By mutual agreement during that walk in the park we decided that we would part company and I left. I think it was the next day and to this day I never had any contact with him from that day forward.”
The duke had defended his decision to meet Epstein in person, saying he “always questioned” why he travelled to New York to end their friendship.
He explained: “I took the judgement call that because this was serious and I felt that doing it over the telephone was the chickens way of doing it.”
Both Amazon Prime and Netflix have created dramas based on the controversial interview with the BBC.

The Duke of York has kept a low profile since he stepped down as a working royal in 2019 following public backlash, maintaining his residency at Royal Lodge with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson.
Epstein had pleaded guilty to prostitution charges, including one involving a minor, in 2008 and served 18 months in prison.
He later died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
