A man has been charged with firearm offences after a taxi driver was allegedly threatened with a gun in Dungannon on Monday.

Earlier in the week a police operation saw the Market Square area of the town centre closed off as officers responded to the incident.

At the time a 48-year-old man was arrested.

In an update this morning, police confirmed the man has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

“He is expected to appear at Dungannon magistrates court on 26 February,” a spokesperson added.

“As is normal procedure the charge will be reviewed by the PPS.”
