A 17-year-old teen has been charged after a violent robbery at a downtown dispensary.
Toronto Police said officers were called on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. for a violent behaviour call in the Yonge-Gerrard Sts. area.
Police said a lone male suspect allegedly approached a dispensary wearing a mask to disguise his identity. The employee refused to allow the suspect to enter, but the suspect allegedly forced the door open and entered before demanding cash and threatening to stab the employee.
Police said the suspect began to reach into his jacket, but the employee fled from the store and contacted police.
Officers found the suspect inside the store and took him into custody. Officers allegedly recovered a knife and other items of evidentiary value related to the investigation during the arrest.
The youth, who can’t be named per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime.

WOODSTOCK MAN, 19, CHARGED IN FATAL CRASH
A 19-year-old Woodstock man has been charged with dangerous driving after a deadly crash in Brampton in November.
Peel Regional Police said the crash happened on Nov. 24 at 12:30 a.m. in the Steeles-Finch Aves. area.
A Mississauga man was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, while a woman from Mississauga and a man from Woodstock suffered serious injuries.
Police said further investigation determined that the accused was allegedly in attendance and leaving a nearby street-racing event before the crash.
On Tuesday, investigators arrested Mitchel Hunter and charged him with dangerous operation causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
