Wynne Evans’ dance partner on Strictly Come Dancing has spoken out after Evans left the live tour to “take some time out”. Evans’ exit was agreed with the BBC after he made “inappropriate and unacceptable” remarks on the launch event for the shows.
He said: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
He issued a statement on Sunday after a video caught him making a remark to female performer, allegedly Janette Manrara who hosts the spin-off show It Takes Two.
“My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise,” he said at the time.
Now, Evans’ partner on the show, Katya Jones, has shared her thoughts on the matter.
Jones reposted Evans’ statement on Instagram adding: “Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.”
She then shared an audience member’s video of Wynne during the show saying, “Really missed this tonight”.
Back in October, Evans had to apologise for a “joke” after viewers spotted Jones moving his hand from around her waist and refuse to high-five him during an episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair insisted it was “a running joke”, and Strictly introduced chaperones “at all times” during rehearsals for the 2024 series.
