A new coffee shop looks set to open in the former site of a florist which closed suddenly late last year. A sign has been placed in the window of the former Bunch florist in Staple Hill, advertising a brand new business.
The sign says that the business is called ‘The Hatch’ and will be offering ‘quality brews, delectable treats, fresh produce’ and will be ‘locally owned’ with ‘good vibes’. The sign doesn’t give any more information around an opening date, simply stating that it’s ‘coming soon’.
According to the first posts on The Hatch Staple Hill’s brand new Instagram page, which don’t give too much away just yet, there are “exciting times ahead”. One commented said: “Are we finally getting a nice coffee shop on the main high street? Will there be sit down space?”
But as of yet, there has been no reply.
The unit in which The Hatch will be located is number 11, The Square, Broad Street, which was the previous home of a popular local florist, which closed suddenly before Christmas. One local resident on social media said of the closure: “So sad to see Bunch gone from our High Street.
“We were so lucky having such a beautiful local florist and I know I won’t be alone in saying how much the shop and their amazing window displays will be missed. If any of the lovely staff are on here I just wanted to say thanks for bringing such beauty to the community with your gorgeous shop and flowers.”
