Marcus Rashford is reportedly ‘surprised’ by the strength of Ruben Amorim’s brutal comments following Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old was once again left out of the matchday squad as the Red Devils picked up all three points in west London courtesy of a late goal from Lisandro Martinez.

After the game, Amorim went on the attack by accusing Rashford of not working hard enough in training.

The 40-year-old also suggested he’d rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach than Rashford, who hasn’t featured for the club since December 12.

Now, according to the Independent, Rashford is said to be ‘surprised’ by the strength of his manager’s remarks.

Amorim has made it clear he isn’t ready to suffer fools at United as he looks to steer the club towards a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

Prior to calling out Rashford, he also suggested that the current crop of players were the worst in the Red Devils’ entire history.

The report also says that the 27-year-old has suffered a setback as he pushes to depart before the close of the January transfer window.

Rashford’s dream next club would be Barcelona, having been of interest to the LaLiga giants for a number of years.

However, with the Catalan titans unable to register any more players unless there are outgoings, Rashford’s chances of moving to the Nou Camp appear to be remote.

With other sides such as Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund and Besiktas not showing enough interest, Juventus appear to be the only team in the race to acquire his signature.

And whether he stays or goes remains to be seen, with a parting of ways likely to suit all parties.

United are next in action against FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday night (8pm).

Rashford, however, isn’t expected to feature in that match.

Amorim, meanwhile, has doubled down on his critical comments in a fresh interview with TNT Sports Mexico.

The 40-year-old has, once again, made it clear what he expects from his players – and that anybody not giving their maximum will suffer the consequences.

“I don’t want to send messages to anyone,” he said.

“I am simply very clear about what I expect from my players.

“I have high standards in certain aspects, but I am a coach like any other.

“There are just certain red lines that I believe must be followed for a group to win matches and titles. If those lines are not respected, everything becomes subjective.
