Police said a trio of unidentified suspects used a hammer to smash glass display cases and steal jewelry from a store inside the Burlington Centre mall on Monday night.

In a news release issued on Tuesday, Halton Regional Police said three suspects entered Arain Jewelry on Monday at about 6 p.m. as an employee was closing the store for the evening.

Police said one of the suspects pushed the employee to the back of the store before they began to smash glass display cases and steal the items inside. Cops said the suspects were briefly in the store before fleeing via the mall’s north exit, which faces Fairview St.

All three suspects were dressed in black and were seen entering a blue Honda CRV. Police said the vehicle was stolen.

No firearms were seen and police said the lone weapon used was a hammer.

There were no physical injuries reported.

Investigators were working to obtain additional descriptions of the suspect and Halton Regional Police said further updates would be forthcoming.
