Hamilton Police say a family-run variety store in Flamborough was the victim of theft by a group of female thieves.

On Jan. 25 in the early evening, police say six females entered the store with the intention of stealing several items — including personal items belonging to the business owners.

Cops say while some of the women conversed with staff and made small purchases, the rest of the group attempted to select and conceal various items from the store. Some of the women made their way to the residential portion of the business and entered closets and drawers, police added.

Once the store owners discovered what the women were up to, they confronted them and forced the group to leave. The suspects fled through the front door and were seen leaving in a black SUV parked nearby.

Police say that during the interaction, one of the store owners was bitten by one of the suspects.

A photo of the some of the wanted women has been released as police believe there may be more victims.

The women are described as being between 25-60 years old, wearing dark winter clothing with some wearing headscarves.
